200 meals for displaced ukrainians

We have received specific requests from our generous donors to find opportunities to help citizens with humanitarian aid. As Iowans for Ukrainians always tries to find small to medium size projects that we could completely sponsor, this proved to be a challenging task.

Luckily, our friends at Ukrainian Soul in Ukraine had access to a database of 6000 displaced families, who are in need of food assistance. When vetoing this project, it was brought to our attention that a meal kit (staple foods and household care) would cost $13-15 a kit. To provide help to all 6000 we would require $90K. This was an unfathomable amount of money for our non-profit. A decision was made to help 200 families because that is the best we could do under the circumstances.

Iowans for Ukrainians were involved from the lists of families to the items being purchased, to the bagging of the foods, to a video of the day of disbursement.

The gratitude of people was overwhelming, after facing the terrors of war families felt care and love that we were able to be a part of.

There is still a ton of work to be done in regards to feeding families who lost everything, some of those efforts are currently under way. We hope you come back to read our updates on that matter soon.
